Introduction

This research project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Cotabato City Manpower Development Center (CCMDC) Green Campus Plan in fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly culture within the institution. The plan, aligned with TESDA Circular No. 032, series of 2024, outlines a comprehensive approach to integrating green practices into all aspects of campus life. This research will investigate the plan's impact on student, faculty, and staff behavior, identify challenges and opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations for enhancing its effectiveness.

Literature Review

The research will draw upon existing literature on green campus initiatives, sustainability in education, and the impact of environmental programs on individual behavior. Key concepts to be explored include:

· Green Campus Initiatives: Best practices and frameworks for implementing green campus programs.

· Sustainability in Education: The role of education in promoting environmental awareness and responsibility.

· Behavior Change Theory: Theories and models explaining how individuals adopt sustainable behaviors.

Research Objectives

The research aims to achieve the following objectives:

· Assess the impact of the Green Campus Plan on student, faculty, and staff behavior: This will involve examining changes in waste disposal practices, energy consumption, water usage, and overall environmental awareness.

· Identify challenges and opportunities in the implementation of the Green Campus Plan: This will involve exploring obstacles faced by CCMDC in implementing the plan, such as resource constraints, logistical challenges, and resistance to change.

· Develop recommendations for enhancing the Green Campus Plan: This will involve proposing strategies for addressing identified challenges, improving communication and engagement, and strengthening the plan's impact on sustainability.

Methodology

The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection methods:

· Quantitative Data:

· Surveys: A survey will be administered to a representative sample of CCMDC students, faculty, and staff to gather data on their perceptions of the Green Campus Plan, their engagement in green practices, and their attitudes towards sustainability.

· Data Analysis: Analysis of CCMDC records and data related to energy consumption, waste disposal, and water usage will be conducted to assess the plan's impact on resource utilization.

· Qualitative Data:

· Interviews: Semi-structured interviews will be conducted with key stakeholders, including CCMDC administrators, faculty members, student representatives, and staff involved in implementing the Green Campus Plan. Interviews will focus on their experiences, perspectives, and challenges related to the plan.

· Focus Groups: Focus groups will be conducted with students and faculty to gather their insights and suggestions for improving the Green Campus Plan.

Chapter V: Data Analysis and Interpretation

Quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical software to identify trends and patterns in attitudes, behaviors, and resource usage. Qualitative data will be analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key themes and insights emerging from interviews and focus group discussions. The findings from both quantitative and qualitative analyses will be integrated to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Green Campus Plan's impact and to develop recommendations for improvement.

Chapter VI: Recommendations and Conclusion

Based on the research findings, the study will provide recommendations for enhancing the CCMDC Green Campus Plan. Recommendations will focus on:

· Strengthening Communication and Engagement: Improving communication about the Green Campus Plan, its objectives, and its benefits to the CCMDC community.

· Addressing Challenges: Identifying and addressing specific challenges encountered in implementing the plan, such as resource constraints or logistical hurdles.

· Promoting Behavior Change: Developing strategies to encourage greater participation in green practices and foster a more sustainable culture within CCMDC.

The research will conclude with a summary of findings, a discussion of the implications for CCMDC, and recommendations for future research and development of green campus initiatives.
